Trials in Life

We all face trials in life. That’s what Allah has put us on this Earth for – to be tested. Our purpose is to always turn to Him, especially in our time of need. And recently, Allah has tested me with a lot of different struggles. It’s been hard and a lot to handle sometimes, but through it all, I found strength. Strength gifted to me by Him. And SubhanAllah, it made the struggle feel so much lighter. I thought I’d share how I found this strength, and just reflect on how much it carried me when I needed it most.

Patience was the first key. Patience through the struggle and the pain of it all. Remembering that He will reward you for every minute that you suffer. It’s true that the sooner you realise the reality of this world, the easier it becomes to handle it. We have to always remember Who’s really in control over everything. And what I found really helped me was remembering that Who has full control over life also has our best interests at heart. You may get frustrated and fed up, but if you remember that Allah’s is putting you through this for a reason, and that that reason is that it is what is best for you in that given moment in time, even if you may not see it at the time, and that whatever you’re going through is already written to happen for you, then SubhanAllah, watch how easy patience will come to you. Although we may not always understand His ways, you must still believe whole heartedly in His plan, for He is the greatest of planners. Put your trust in Him completely and let Him do the rest. He says take one step toward Him and He will take ten toward you. It’s that simple. So never lose patience with His plans for you and instead embrace it and InshaAllah, Allah will make it easy for you, no matter what it is you’re going through. Allah can do anything. Just always turn to Him, He is closer to us than our jugular vein.

‘Verily, with every hardship comes ease.’ (94:5)

This verse has really spoken to me recently. It has always made me feel better because it reminds me to focus on what Allah has given me, even during the struggle. What blessings do you have? What are you grateful for? What has He given you to help you through your pain? If you feel empty and cannot think of anything still, at least appreciate the breath Allah has gifted you with every passing moment. You’re still living. That’s more than enough to make me feel grateful. Closing my eyes and feeling the air enter my lungs when I inhale with ease, my heart and blood doing the rest of the work carrying the oxygen over my whole body. How my exhale deflates my tummy and empties my lungs effortlessly. The beat of my heart, never stopping. Precious life, SubhanAllah, is a blessing from Allah; we need to be grateful for it. And when we are grateful for all He has given us, that’s what will give us peace in our hearts and courage to remain positive, because we know that He is there and always with us. Let that gratefulness fill your soul with love for our Lord.

When you love and put your trust in Him and His plans, and you have patience through the trials of life, InshaAllah, remaining positive through them will come to you easily. And with that positivity, a sense of comfort from all the pain will naturally follow InshaAllah.

Then, when you finally reach the other side, you have the honour of looking back and you can reflect on how far you’ve come. How much stronger, how much more resilient, patient, happy, content.

How much better you are, because of what you went through.

There’s a wonderful YouTube series called Honest Tea Talk, hosted by three amazing ladies who discuss important topics, one of which was similar to this topic. They mentioned how nothing beautiful ever came to be without some sort of breaking first. Like a planted seed, it must first break in order for the shoot to grow.

‘The growth and the beauty of ourselves will come from the tests.’

May Allah bless us all with the ability to remain positive in difficult times, and may we all continue to love Him, trust in Him and have strong faith in His plans; and may Allah bless all of your beating hearts with a strong Imaan, inner peace and positive energy, and may we all flourish and grow from our trials in life, Ameen
