Hold My Hand

Hold my hand, hold it tight.

Let our fingers cross over, let our palms unite.

Feel my warmth welcome yours as it courses through all the windows and doors of your hand.

Learn the texture of my skin alike the texture of yours and

Don’t be afraid to listen to the rhythm of my pulse, as it beats the same beat that I can hear from yours.

O hold my hand with such grace and security that our senses dance a little in pure harmony.

Can’t you see how we feel the same? How we hear the same? How we learn the same?

Why then do we not see the same?

We divide ourselves. We separate and isolate. We discriminate and violate. ‘We’ has become ‘us’ and ‘them’.

And for what?

We see anything that isn’t our own and we change our tone,

But, how much bitterness in one’s self before we become so sour that we can’t even feel, hear or learn anymore?

How much time and energy wasted before we become nothing but hate, ignorance and war?

When will we realize that, in fact, it isn’t about what we see at all?

We are so focused on our eyes – that we forget our soul.

That when your hand’s in mine, I hold it like it’s my own

And in that moment, everything else doesn’t mater because we are together.

We are undivided, we are unseparated, unviolated,

We are not hated.

We are the same from the very veins that carry our blood to the way our hearts beat a rhythm, to the way I can feel your warmth in me, so please – understand that we can’t hold hate when we hold hands.

Only love.

So, hold my hand, hold it tight.

Let our lives cross over, let our nations unite.

Deepest condolences to those affected by the tragic, inhumane terrorist attack in New Zealand. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Praying for all victims of war, hate, crimes and natural disasters all around the globe. This is dedicated to you. To all my brothers and sisters suffering in China’s concentration camps, to all in the midst of the war in Syria, Gaza, Myanmar, Sudan. To all the families and children denied basic human rights in Africa, Bangladesh, India, and many other places. May Allah grant you all Jannat al Firdous (highest heaven).

Allahu allam (Allah knows best)
