Love is the infinite bond two souls hold tight, for all the right reasons, through day and night, in all of the seasons.

And by that I mean, everyday adventures, when you explore everything,

The classic hand-holding, cheesy couple-things that daylight brings,

When you step out into the sun for a walk in the woods,

Or when you have a lazy day, sleeping in if you could,

Maybe a cheeky meal at Nando’s,

Or not attending that lecture even though you know you should,

Whether it’s a sad day or a happy day, either way, you both know it’s going to be okay,

Because you have each other to hold onto each and every single day,

And so I say,

Love is the infinite bond two souls hold tight, for all the right reasons, through day and night, in all of the seasons.

And by that I mean, when you both experience the dark beauty of the moon,

In all of its glory and in all of its doom,

Sleepless silence, with only the ticking of the clock,

Or the peaceful nights when you sleep like a rock,

The nights where it’s like

I’ll stay up with you anyway, so you have company,

As you handle the dreaded essay catastrophe,

Nights with the notorious nightmares or anxious worries that form grey hairs,

Through the dense feeling of the rock and the lightness of a feather,

You’ve been through it all together,

And so I still honour,

Love is the infinite bond two souls hold tight, for all the right reasons, through day and night, in all of the seasons.

And by that I mean, all your blessed, pure happiness,

Anything bright or light or just simply bliss,

The fluffy feel of the summer breeze,

It greets you both and makes you feel at ease,

It welcomes peace.

It makes you feel like running through meadows, dancing under rainbows,

And all that glitters, glimmers and glows.

It shined on you both,

When you were under the sun,

And then you became one

And so, I’ll carry on,

Love is the infinite bond two souls hold tight, for all the right reasons, through day and night, in all of the seasons.

And by that I mean, when the wind changes,

Strong forces that take a hold on you,

Green leaves turn brown, when the skies aren’t blue,

Both of you are fading, falling, sinking, crying,

Thinking about anything, no more smiling,

Everything is black and white,

The differences in each of you fight,

And nothing seems to go right.

It’s funny how these are the times that you both unite,

And you become stronger, better, bigger and deeper,

In love.

Thereof,

Love is the infinite bond two souls hold tight, for all the right reasons, through day and night, in all of the seasons.

And by that I mean, wading through the cold winter days,

The freezing feeling of fever that just won’t go away,

Times of hardship and despair,

Losing all hope when life isn’t fair,

Depressing days of nothingness and blank stares.

But all you have to say is,

‘Through times like this, just know that I’ll be there’

And everything turns back to love and care,

And so I’ll continue to share,

Love is the infinite bond two souls hold tight, for all the right reasons, through day and night, in all of the seasons.

And by that I mean, when you finally reach the other side,

When light and colour seeps back into life.

And spring arrives,

The revival. The survival. Of another year. How – powerful.

To find that light at the end of the tunnel,

Having been through all of that –

And still be the same beautiful couple.

Now I’ve learnt why,

Love is the infinite bond two souls hold tight, for all the right reasons, through day and night, in all of the seasons.

Because as I look around and see everyone here in front of me,

I realise why I

Why you.

Why we.

Are here.

We are all here because of your love.

Remember that power.

Power of the infinite bond that your souls hold tight, for all the right reasons, through day and night, in all of the seasons.

We must understand that love is defined by each individual in this room,

And tonight we have learnt and witnessed a new kind of love,

And I pray that you both find peace and happiness through your strong, unique definition of love and that you continue to share it with everyone here today.

So I wrote this poem for a wedding reception I attended. As part of the traditions of the ceremony a ‘reading’ must be delivered, and I performed this piece for it. It was fun but I was definitely very nervous and shaking but I got through it! 🙂

I wanted to write about what ‘love’ meant to me, and why romantic love was so special and different than any other kind of love. It’s one of the strongest kinds of love in the world, and it’s celebrated at weddings – an event where everyone gathers to witness the love of the newly wed couple.

That’s all from me today, hope you enjoyed reading it and have a good day! ❤
